Quote of the day

"Write what you care about and understand. Writers should never try to outguess the marketplace in search of a salable idea; the simple truth is that all good books will eventually find a publisher if the writer tries hard enough, and a central secret to writing a good book is to write one that people like you will enjoy." --Richard North Patterson
Do you write the type of book you like to read? If so, what do you write/read and why? I hope all of you have a fantastic weekend.

  1. That's such great advice. It would be hard to write something you didn't really like just because you thought it would do well in the marketplace.
I write middle grade fantasy. I love reading and writing fantasy stories. Maybe because they are such a good escape from the real world and I enjoy learning about all these new worlds authors can imagine. Have a great weekend.

  3. Thank you for that bit of inspiration. I most definitely needed it today. You are the best, Buffy.

  4. Great quote, Buffy! I read historical fiction and ya. (I'm not sure what the ya genre I read is...I really like books like Willow, Cut, 13 Reasons.) I write historical fiction and the ya I'm doing is about a mixed up girl.

  5. great quote, Buffy, especially these days when it seems like everyone is trying to get on the twilight/harry potter bandwagon - some successfully, others not so much. I've always enjoyed historical fiction and fantasy so right now I'm writing a Fantasy/Regency Romance set in an alternate England. I've written a fairy tail for adults and a paranormal romance.

ps what are you working on?

  6. Hey Marcy, you asked what I am working on. I just finished The Lion Awakens. It's about two 17-year-olds who find flash drives hidden in anonymous gifts that lead them to a parallel universe and an enemy hell-bent on taking over their world.
It was soooo much fun to write.
